BROADWAY JAZZ w/ JOSH BERGASSE from NYC

Josh is originally from
Michigan and currently lives in New York City.  Joshua’s Broadway and National touring Credits as a performer include Movin Out, Hairspray, The Life, and West Side Story. He also appeared in the ‘Gap’ West Side Story Commercials.   He has also choreographed regional productions of The Whos’ Tommy, South Pacific, Beehive, Smokey Joes Café, multiple productions of West Side Story(original Jerome Robbins choreography) as well as the national tour of Fame. World premieres include the Off-Broadway hit Bomb-itty of Errors; Crash Nation (Cherry County Playhouse,)Manhattan Magic (Sands Resort in Atlantic City
,) A Holiday for Hope (Bushnell Theatre,) The Rose of Corozon (Contemporary American Theatre Festival,) My America (Kravis center for the performing arts.) He has also Directed and Choreographed Revue shows for Princess Cruise line and Regent Seven Seas Cruise line.   

Attire:
leotard or two piece form fitting dance attire, tights, hair secured back, appropriate dance shoes.  Jazz pants – ok

Master Class with Bethany Betzler


Bethany Betzler is an independent dance performer and choreographer, and an alumni of the Main St. Dance Centre. In 2004 Bethany co-founded Synapse Arts Collective, a Chicago-based performance group, and served as their associate director from 2004-2006. Bethany received a BA in Dance from Columbia College-Chicago in 2005, and went on to dance with Chicago choreographers Rachel Damon, Rachel Thorne Germond, Julia Mayer and Colleen Halloran. Bethany has also worked with New York artists Lisa Gonzales and Reggie Wilson, and choreographed a short dance film by filmmaker Demetri Patsiaris. Bethany recently worked in Los Angeles with Kristen Smiarowski, Ally Voye, and IN/EX Dance Project. Her choreography has been seen at Columbia College, Links Hall, The Chicago Cultural Center, The Vittum Theater, and in San Diego as part of Sushi Performance's 4x4 Series. She has taught creative movement and modern dance for children through the L.A.-based Education Advantage Foundation's Learning Links Program and is also a certified personal trainer.

What more do we need to say about Rob?  He has been coming to the Main St. Dance Centre for years giving the students the latest from LA.  He is always fun and crazy and offers a very educational class.  He has worked with a variety of artists including the Backstreet Boys, Vitamin C, Toni Braxton and has currently choreographed an episode of Grounded for Life.

Attire: leotard or two piece form fitting dance attire, tights, hair secured back, appropriate dance shoes.  Jazz pants – ok

Madame Penny Godboldo
AFRO-HAITIAN/CUBAN w/ PENNY GODBOLDO from Marygrove College

Ms. Godboldo is a tenured professor of dance at
Marygrove College.  She has a master's degree in dance and theatre and has trained at the Alvin Ailey American Dance School in New York.  Ms. Godboldo has been the only certified instructor of the Dunham technique in Michigan since 1993.  She co-chaired the committee for the Katherine Dunham National Memorial Tribute, which was formed after Ms. Dunham’s death in July, 2006.  She has taught and performed in many countries, including England, Scotland, France and Japan. Her research of over 20 years, “Dance in Religion,” has taken her to such places as Benin, West Africa, Cuba, Brazil, Haiti, Israel, Egypt and China.  She brings musicians with her so students can truly experience the pulse and rhythm of this cultural dance! 

Attire/Girls:
leotard, tights, no shoes, hair secured back, circle skirts or wrap (optional, but recommended) 
Guys: form fitting clothes, no jeans, no shoes.
